Week 6Final Professional Poster

Assignment

Purpose

The purpose of this activity is for students to create a professional poster to disseminate their DNP evidence-based practice change project through a poster presentation at a national conference. This progressive poster assignment began in NR707 and is completed in NR709.

Instructions

  • Revise the poster to include all your faculty recommendations.
  • The content should be well-developed, concisely conveyed, and supported by the evidence. Leave space between each section without words, so that there is a space break between sections.
  • Set up your poster using the following format and guidelines.
  • Layout & Organization
  • Visual Presentation
  • Your poster sections are required to have the exact sections and headers as the NR707 Poster template and in the same order. Use the following template headings
    • Practice Problem
    • Practice Question
    • Methodology
    • Implications
    • Results
    • Conclusions
    • References
  • The poster should convey the practice change project concisely and accurately to enhance reader comprehension.
  • Read the poster from another person’s point of view to ensure that the information you entered describes your practice change project concisely and flows logically.

Include the following in your poster:

  1. Practice Problem
    1. Offer strong evidence-based statements for the significance data, including prevalence, and/or incidence, and/or mortality data at the national and state (or county or city) levels. If available, include data from the practicum site to support this is a priority problem for the organization.
    2. Include the project aim (main purpose or objective) at the end of this section.
    3. Include in-text citations.
    4. Use bullet points for the practice problem data points. Bullet points are not required for the project aim.
    5. Use concise and accurate statements.
  2. Practice Question
    1. The practice question must be the exact approved PICOT practice question as identified in the Chamberlain University IRB approval letter.
    2. Remove the name or identifiers of the practicum site from the practice question and other sections of the poster.
  3. Methodology (Part 1 and Part 2 in the Rubric) (Students conducting the case study should leave this blank.)
    1. In this section, students who are implementing at the practicum site are required to state the information in short concise phrases with bullet points.
    2. State the translational science model or theory.
    3. Provide a short description of the setting.
    4. Provide a short description of the population with the estimated number of participants.
    5. Briefly state the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
    6. Briefly describe the intervention (cite primary source).
    7. Briefly describe the summative evaluation plan.
    8. Briefly describe the formative evaluation plan.
    9. State the main outcome in the PICOT practice question.
    10. Briefly describe the data collection (e.g., pre-intervention and post-intervention data collection).
    11. State the name of the data collection instrument (cite source) OR data source (e.g., data pull from chart or EHR, or data from the quality department, etc.).
    12. State the data analysis plan (descriptive statistics or statistical test).
    13. State the exact timeframe for the total implementation and the intervention implementation.
  4. Results
    1. Describe the major findings in the context of the overall purpose of the project.
    2. Present the statistical analyses of your primary outcome and process measures.
    3. There should be a clear relationship between the problems that drove the project and the findings presented.
  5. Implications for Nursing and Healthcare
    1. Briefly state your anticipated implications for changing nursing practice and patient or organizational outcomes. The anticipated outcomes should be based on the research supporting your intervention. Implications should be considered at the various systems levels, including the following:
      1. Micro (patient or individual nurse outcomes)
      2. Meso (unit or department collective nursing practice)
      3. Macro (facility or healthcare system[s])
    2. Use bullet points for practice problem data points.
  6. Conclusion
    1. Briefly describe the contribution your practice project has made to the body of scientific knowledge on your topic and how this improves nursing practice.
  7. References: Use of Scientific Evidence
    1. Every reference is required to be associated with an in-text citation.
    2. The poster includes at least three (3) research articles (primary research or systematic reviews) related to the DNP project in citations and references.
    3. References must be published in the past 5 years.
    4. References and in-text citations are required to be in correct APA format, excluding the hanging indent (which PowerPoint may not enable).
