The purpose of this discussion is to apply your knowledge and understanding of assessment and evaluation in the selection of a valid and reliable tool.


Review this week’s lesson and readings. Then, respond to the following:

  1. Examine the ways that formative and summative evaluation are different.
  2. Using an academic or clinical setting, describe how you would provide a formative evaluation of the learner (examples: competency for a new nurse orientation, mentoring a new academic faculty member, simulation debrief, etc.).
