Purpose
The purpose of the discussion this week is to create a plan for the formative evaluation. The formative evaluation is an assessment process to determine if the intervention is implemented as planned(Formative Intervention Comprehensive Nursing Essay). The intervention must be implemented as planned to achieve outcome success. You will create the process to check if the intervention is being implemented as planned. This process is called the formative evaluation. The formative evaluation measures compliance with the intervention implementation plan. Intervention fidelity is a term used when describing if the intervention is implemented exactly as planned. Intervention fidelity is high when the intervention is implemented as planned. Low intervention fidelity occurs when there is variation in the intervention implementation or when a portion of the intervention is not implemented as planned. Formative Evaluation Plan
Several steps and tools will be involved to assess compliance with the intervention implementation plan. First, the DNP project aims to determine the impact of technology with MI on medication adherence among inpatient Schizophrenia patients. The project’s objectives include; evaluating the role of technology on medication adherence among inpatient schizophrenia patients, assessing the impact of motivational interviews on medication adherence among inpatient schizophrenia patients, and comparing the impact of technology with motivational interviewing on medication adherence and motivational interviewing and technology independently among inpatient schizophrenia patients. Data describing medication adherence will be collected using the Brief Medication Questionnaire (BMQ), a self-report questionnaire (Nassar et al., 2022), pre and post-intervention, i.e., at weeks 1 and 11/12.(Formative Intervention Comprehensive Nursing Essay)
Formative Evaluation.
The DNP project manager will carry out the formative evaluation of the implementation progress bi-weekly. In addition, a checklist of the DNP project phases and activities will be used to monitor the implementation progress at the project site. The DNP project manager will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the progress of the DNP project progress phases and activities, including the selection of project participants and provision of informed consent, on-boarding the participants (explain to the participants the nature of the project and contact the IT personnel to help participants install reminder app and input relevant data); provide weekly motivational interviewing; meet participants weekly to discuss barriers to medication.(Formative Intervention Comprehensive Nursing Essay)
Plan for Feedback
If the formative evaluation outcomes show low intervention fidelity, the DNP project manager will pursue the following step to improve fidelity. The first step will be identifying the phases or activities with low fidelity and the reasons for such outcomes. Next, the DNP project manager will address the identified issues by making changes to the intervention plan or meeting with the staff to re-strategize the intervention. Finally, the effectiveness of the changes will be evaluated through follow-up evaluations to assess the improvement of intervention fidelity.
