Detail your values and how these align with the organization.
Nurse educators play an integral role in leading, facilitating learning, and acting as change agents. In this regard, their values are vital in performing these duties in healthcare organizations. I highly believe that every individual has equal rights to healthcare access regardless of their background. Therefore, I base my operations on the values of equity and respect, which align with my organization’s mission to provide quality healthcare across all communities.(Development of personal and self-reflective teaching philosophy as a nurse educator)


Explain your beliefs about students and teaching and learning.


Also, I believe students should be autonomous and integral and enhance social justice throughout their learning and practice. These values are fundamental in their healthcare delivery and advocacy upon their studies’ completion. My values regarding students learning are autonomy, integrity, and social justice. I believe that the learning process should be mirror the operational values of nursing and enable the student to adopt to practice environments seamlessly (Liu & Hou, 2021). I also value team work and coordination with other learners. Working together, group collaborations and coordination, can significantly improve the competence of students in communication, leadership, and management, which are trivial in the healthcare environment.(Development of personal and self-reflective teaching philosophy as a nurse educator)


Describe the scientific underpinnings that frame your teaching philosophy


Teaching philosophies are essential to highlight a nurse educator’s personal beliefs and ideas about their teaching practice and students’ learning (Yeom et al., 2018). As highlighted earlier, my values regarding students learning are autonomy, integrity, and social justice. According to Poorchangiz et al. (2019), these values are essential in providing a basis for decision-making in their nursing practice. Ideally, nursing is a profession rooted in ethics and professionalism as it involves providing patient care to diverse communities.

Therefore, integrating these values into my teaching practice and passing them to students will guarantee their success in delivering quality healthcare. For instance, autonomy allows students to analyze a problem and develop a solution using the knowledge acquired in their program. As a result, they can work individually rather than depend on other healthcare providers in patient care delivery (Poorchangiz et al., 2019). Additionally, integrity allows students to uphold their standards regarding patient care, including honesty and strong moral principles. As a nurse educator, I am committed to continuous learning and self-improvement. I believe acquiring more knowledge and working on my shortcomings promotes my career and educational growth. With the dynamic world we live in, change is inevitable, and I am committed to developing my problem-solving and critical thinking skills to resolve challenges regarding healthcare and education delivery.
