Hello class,
I will focus on anxiety and depression among adolescents for my capstone project. Anxiety and depression are common mental health disorders during adolescence, and the prevalence of both diagnoses continues to increase during this stage. Adolescence is a sensitive period in which people develop emotional and social habits significant for mental well-being. Adolescents have unique needs as exposure to adversity, peer pressure, and identity exploration predispose them to mental conditions (Klaufus et al., 2022). Thus, adopting healthy habits with protective and supportive home and school environments is vital for people during adolescence. Anxiety causes excess worry or panic and is more prevalent among older than younger adults. WHO (2023) claims that 3.6% of 10-14 year adolescents and 4.6% of 15-19-year-olds experience anxiety, while depression occurs among 1.1% of 10-14-year-olds and 2.8% of 15-19-year-olds. Depression and anxiety cause distress among adolescents leading to impairment in daily activities. The diagnoses also have a profound effect on school attendance and performance. They can lead to isolation and loneliness that can potentiate suicidal idealization.(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)
The potential stakeholders for my capstone project will be patients (adolescents) suffering from anxiety and depression, their parents/caregivers, and families who will be vital in providing information about diagnoses. Healthcare professionals like psychologists, mental health nurses, and psychiatrists will also be involved as they collaborate on patient examinations and intervention strategies. The teachers may also be included to give input on the patient’s school performance. Government and community support will be required to support the change implemented by the project.(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)
My capstone project aims to address a research problem. The project aims to evaluate evidence-based interventions used in the management of adolescents with anxiety and depression among adolescents. The project will determine whether combined psychotherapy and pharmacological intervention are more effective than either treatment alone.(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)
Potential research questions include:
- What are the causes of anxiety and depression among adolescents?(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)
- What are potential evidence-based interventions for adolescents with depression and anxiety?
- Does combined psychotherapy and pharmacological intervention have improved outcomes in the management of adolescents with anxiety and depression compare to each treatment alone?(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)

Great post! Your capstone project topic on the benefits of group therapy for patients with mental disorders will be vital to achieving improved health outcomes. I liked that you integrated technology into your intervention, where clinicians can conduct group therapy virtually through Zoom. Although technology improves care accessibility and affordability by cutting the costs and time spent traveling to healthcare facilities, it may limit patients without access to the technology needed. Therefore, there is a need to provide necessary resources such as required technology (phone and internet) and education to increase patients’ knowledge on how to use it. Importantly, group therapy has been widely adopted to manage different mental health disorders such as addiction, depression, anxiety, and bipolar. When applied properly, group therapy can be effective as individual therapy. Group therapy provides mutual support as patients understand that they are not the only ones facing their mental problems, propels them forward, and promotes social skills such as communication and cost less than individual therapy (Viswanathan et al., 2020).(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)

Great post! I agree that your research topic on Stockholm syndrome will prepare you for your current job in supporting and advocating for women who suffer from domestic violence. Stockholm syndrome is a relevant topic among domestic violence victims. In this case, women who encounter domestic violence form a psychological connection with their abusive partners. Based on the syndrome’s symptoms, advocacy and psychological or psychiatric counseling are suitable interventions for domestic violence victims. The victims develop positive feelings or sympathy towards their abusers and a sense of helplessness. Thus, advocacy will help get justice in the court. Advocacy will also help the victims obtain their needs, such as shelter or food, while seeking professional help counseling administered through talk therapy for the victims to understand they are the ones that need help (Ogbe et al., 2020). Evidence-based information will be a suitable resource for completing your Stockholm syndrome project. The information will be vital to understand the diagnosis, patient needs, and suitable interventions to advocate for domestic violence victims.(Potential Research Topic Comprehensive Nursing Paper Example)
