CLINICAL EVALUATION GRADES

Your clinical instructor will complete an evaluation with feedback from your preceptor and evaluation of your work.    Meditrek calculates an average score which will be used to determine the score that will be entered into Blackboard for your evaluation grade.  The table is listed below.  (Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students)

Students must demonstrate Evaluation and Student Feedbackachievement of the clinical learning outcomes for the course by achieving a minimum score of 3 (meets requirements) on all criteria on the final evaluation. Scores of less than 3 on any criteria can lead to course failure or the implementation of a clinical performance improvement plan. (Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students)

BY DAY 7 OF WEEK 10

Your Preceptor will be required to complete their Final Clinical Evaluation and you will be required to complete your Student Feedback.

Ensure that both you and your Preceptor have submitted the required online evaluations in the Meditrek system. Be sure you have completed all fields in the log and ask your Preceptor to verify your completed hours in Meditrek. If feedback is not received, you will receive an Incomplete (I) as a grade. Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students

The self-assessment tool is used to assess the level of nurse students to gain dexterity (Immonen et al., 2019). Specifically, this tool allows for the effective establishment of skills obtained, strengths, and limitations of a nurse in their practice. It provides an individual nurse with the opportunity of addressing the identified weaknesses. In this report, I will provide my key areas of strength and weaknesses based on the experiences I gained during my placement program. I will then provide a detailed analysis of the strategies to enhance the identified weaknesses and how to master and apply the clinical skills effectively.(Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students)

My notable strength is the ability to use proper strategies for completing a comprehensive and precise patient physical examination. Specifically, I consider this clinical skill essential in my nursing career as it will help me collect patient data for proper diagnosis. Furthermore, I plan to often practice this craft in medical wards and community health clinics to investigate patients and develop proper treatment and management plans for them. When I speak out for my patient and fight for their needs, I prefer to think of myself as an agent of change. I was just finished helping out with the care of a patient undergoing chemotherapy. In our conversation, the patient had been fighting lung cancer for nine years. He had already been through numerous cycles of chemotherapy prior to this treatment. We discussed his treatment plan and what he might do to keep fighting.(Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students)

Another strength I identified is the ability to include patients’ families in the care program. As reported by Bjerkvik and Hilli (2019), including family members in the patient’s care plan helps collect detailed information about the patient’s medical history, and such family members may act as caregivers to the patients while at home. After several weeks of round-the-clock medical attention, his physicians informed him that he could opt out of further operations and chemotherapy instead of hospice or palliative care. He wanted to stop worrying about the actual operation and instead focus on the peaceful end to his life. I consulted with the hospitalist and oncologist and asked to meet with a hospice representative. I held her hand and listened attentively when she said she no longer wanted to fight. She said she had no energy to go on and died later that night. As she passed away, I sobbed alongside her family. My main field of study is nursing, and as a registered nurse, I see myself as an educator. It is essential to consider moving the focus from the procedure to the results.(Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students)

My first instinct whenever I enter a new room is to stress the importance of safety by yelling, “Don’t fall!” and conducting a quick scan of the area. I also stress the importance of the patient’s continued safety to the family. I serve as a drug administration instructor. I follow up with my patients to ensure they continue to take their prescribed medications at home and fully understand any new medications they are beginning to take. It is one in which the RN can understand and evaluate the evidence regarding the procedure’s effect on patient outcomes. In an evidence-based practice model, like the IOWA Model, nurses are given detailed, step-by-step instructions to adhere to. The IOWA model guides nurses on how they can use research findings to help improve patient care (Tucker et al., 2021). The rationale behind the change from process to outcome is that the desired outcomes are more important than the process employed to obtain them. For instance, one of the main goals of nursing is to inform patients about their illnesses, treatment options, and drugs. Collaboration and decision-making aids like the IOWA model can help nurses make evidence-based decisions. Despite my strengths, I have some critical weaknesses which limit my ability to execute my nursing roles successfully. Some of these weaknesses include spending too much time on paperwork, paying too much attention to details, and attempting to complete many tasks at once.(Clinical Evaluation and Student Feedback Essay for Nursing Students)
